Although there were plenty of enjoyable films this year, 2009 is another disappointment for great movies (even considering I'm one of the more critical critics). I only found one film to be really impressive (my number one selection), despite so many blockbusters, science-fiction flicks, and special effects-heavy extravaganzas. Beyond my Top 3, few other films actually deserve to be considered the best of the year. Maybe 2010 will be better.

I don't understand why NYFCC chose Hurt Locker, or why PFCS chose Inglourious Basterds. They're both fun, but certainly not Best Picture worthy.
